The CR12A/WCR17 is virtually identical in operation to a standard HR12A PalmPad remote controller except for it's camera scanning ability. It allows you to control up to 16 lights and appliances and to scan between up to four X10 cameras. Works with any X10 transceiver or security system base receiver to control X10 lamp, wall switch, wall receptacle, universal, and appliance modules and X10 cameras. Also works with the X10 Activehome two-way computer interface to initiate macros.

Can be used to switch views between X10 video cameras. When you first insert the batteries in the CR12A/WCR17, it defaults to control X10 cameras connected to addressable power supplies that are set to unit codes 1 thru 4 (the other buttons control regular X10 modules exactly like a PalmPad including bright and dim). You can change it to control other groups of cameras 5 thru 8, 9 thru 12, or 13 thru 16. Whatever group of keys you select to control cameras (a total of 4), the other three groups (twelve unit codes) will send regular X10 commands for controlling X10 modules. Each press of either the blue UP (or DOWN) button will turn on the next (or previous) camera in the group while turning the current camera off. If using the blue scan buttons for X10 modules (no cameras), it will turn them on when pressing the blue UP. Blue DOWN does not turn them off. Bright and dim commands will not work for the group that is set to camera mode. For example, if you set 1 thru 4 to camera mode, you can use them to turn X10 modules on and off, but you just won't be able to dim or brighten those modules.

It's compact but powerful--measures 4.5 inches X 3 inches. Blue keys are for dimming functions for lights (or scanning between cameras). Requires 4 AAA batteries and has a range of up to 100 feet.

It's really convenient to use and has lots of uses. For example, you can leave one in the car to turn on the outside and inside lights when coming home. When you go to bed, you can get comfortable and then turn off the lights without getting out of bed. It's also great for turning down the lights in a home theater application. Scan between four camera views and watch them right on your TV.

Compatible with all manufacturer's X10 products including those from but not limited to GE, IBM, HomeLink, Leviton, Magnavox, RCA, Radio Shack, Safety First, Smarthome, Stanley, X10, and X-10 PRO.
