This is the KR16A Emergency Panic keychain remote with one unit control. These are a very unique X10 item. They predate the KR10A security keychain remote and KR15A Emergency Panic Button as well as the KR19A keychain remote.

The KR16A is like a keychain version of the KR15A Emergency Panic Button. It gets initialized into an X10 security system so it can activate the alarm. To initialize the remote into your X10 security system console, set it to install. Then press and hold the PANIC or STOP button on the KR16A until the console chimes indicating that it has accepted it. Now it will set off the alarm regardless if your X10 security system is armed or not. You press the PANIC button to sound the alarm and STOP to shut it off. NOTE: The KR16A will not arm your security system. The STOP button does disarm it though.

It also sends ON and OFF commands via the LIGHTS ON and LIGHTS OFF buttons. Default from the factory is A1. You can reset the LIGHTS ON and LIGHTS OFF buttons to control any X10 module in any house and unit code you wish. The RF range is excellent at about 70 feet. After that it starts to become a little iffy.

All security system testing was done using a PS561 security system console. To set off the X10 alarm system, press and hold the PANIC button for about 10 seconds. It will immediately turn on the house and unit code that you have the LIGHTS ON button on the KR16A set to and will set off your alarm system even if it isn’t armed several seconds later. The security console will cause your X10 lights to flash ON and OFF and any X10 remote sirens you have will also sound. Oddly though, the built-in siren in the console does not sound. I can't make any guarantee on functionality with other X10 security console models as I have only been able to test these with a PS561. I would guess operation should be the same or similar. UPDATE on 4-29-15: I was told by a customer that these do work the same when used with the newest SC1200 security console as they do with the PS561 console.

The KR16A counts as one security remote being added to your security system. If you are only using it with a transceiver module or the transceiver portion of a security system console, then it is just a simple dumb remote where you can use an unlimited number of remotes.

Don’t need the security system PANIC function? No problem. The KR16A can be used as a simple keychain remote control using any X10 transceiver module to turn ON and OFF any wall switch, lamp, inline, or appliance module. No security system console would be needed. I have personally tested this with a TM751 (both the newer, old, and really old versions) as well as the RR501 and PAT01 PRO transceiver modules. It works fine with all of them. I mention this because the KR15A wall mount panic button will not work with a newer TM751. However, the KR16A does.

Compatible with all manufacturer's X10 products including those from but not limited to GE, IBM, HomeLink, Leviton, Magnavox, RCA, Radio Shack, Safety First, Smarthome, Stanley, X10, and X-10 PRO.

Class of X10 home automation device:

These are brand new old stock in the box with instructions. Due to the age of these remotes, there is no warranty on these other than that they have been tested to be sure they are operational.

These remotes are clearance items, so ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Be sure you understand what you are buying. These remotes DO NOT ARM THE SYSTEM. I do not know how to make this any more clear! I will have no patience with anyone wanting to return these because you did not read the description and instructions!
