This is an extra X-10 Powerhouse brand RE549 Receiver for use with the Powermid Infrared Remote Control Extender (PM5900 or PRO Brand PEX01). The receivers are tiny, only 3 inches square at the base and 4 inches high. You can use an extra Receiver to control another set of audio/video equipment in an additional room.
To operate, you simply point your remote at a Powermid Transmitter (not included) which senses the infrared signals and converts them to RF (radio waves). A small LED indicator flashes indicating that the commands are received and being sent. The RF transmissions then pass through walls and floors (up to 100 foot range) where they are picked up by a Powermid Receiver which then converts them back into the original infrared commands and emits them to your audio and video equipment. You can control anything that is infrared remote controllable (TV, VCR, DVD player, Satellite receiver, DSS receiver, Cable box, audio/video receiver, Webtv, CD player, X10, etc) from another room.
