The is the X-10 Powerhouse brand plug-in lamp module model number LM465. These are the newest version that have the new Soft Start feature. This makes it easier on the bulbs as well as your eyes. When you turn the lights ON remotely, they gradually fade up to full bright in about 2 seconds. No more in your face instant full brightness. When you turn them OFF, they gradually fade to OFF in about 3 seconds. These are similar to the old discontinued LM14A lamp modules in that if you dim them all the way down with a remote, they stop at about 10 percent brightness. This makes them ideal for use in a home theater as the lights will give off just enough light to see but not so much as to obscure the picture. The LM465 does not have resume dim like the old LM14A did, but it's still a big improvement over the older style standard lamp module.
Installation is the same as with any plug-in lamp module. You simply plug the lamp into the module, set the house and unit codes you want it to respond to, and then plug the module into an outlet. Now you will have instant ON/OFF and DIM/BRIGHT control thru an X10 remote or controller. Responds to ALL LIGHTS ON and ALL OFF commands. This also has local control which means that you can turn the lamp on simply by turning the lamps own switch on, off, and then on again. This way you won't always need the remote to operate the lights. The new Soft Start feature works with local control when the module is fully off and then you turn the light on with the switch the first time. The module will gradually fade on to full brightness. Subsequent turning on/off of the light via the lamps switch is instantly on/off since the power is essentially being cut off after the module so it's impossible for the fade on/off to do its thing.
