This is the X10 Powerhouse brand Infrared Remote Control Extender model number PM5900. Consists of two pyramid shaped cubes that both plug into any AC outlet. They are tiny, only 3 inches square at the base and 4 inches high. You place the ST539 Transmitter (PRO brand PEX02) in the room you want to be able to control your audio/video equipment from and the RE549 Receiver (PRO brand PEX03) in the same room as your equipment you want to control.
To operate, you simply point your remote at the Transmitter which senses the infrared signals and converts them to RF (radio waves). A small LED indicator flashes indicating that the commands are received and being sent. The RF transmissions then pass through walls and floors (up to 100 foot range) where they are picked up by the Receiver which then converts them back into the original infrared commands and emits them to your audio and video equipment. You can control anything that is infrared remote controllable (TV, VCR, DVD player, Satellite receiver, DSS receiver, Cable box, audio/video receiver, Webtv, CD player, X10, etc) from another room.
