This is the X-10 PRO brand XPD3-IW decorator style remote controlled wall switch module. Works with X10 home automation remotes and controllers. You simply replace any existing wall switch by removing the old switch and replacing it with this one, attach the two wires with the wire nuts (included). If you can replace a standard wall switch, you will have no problem with installing this. Now you can turn the lights on or off and dim or brighten them using any X10 remote or controller. Use with a motion sensor to turn the lights on and off when you enter or leave a room. Or use one with the Palmpad to shut off the lights when going to bed or use a keychain remote to turn on the porch lights for safety when coming home. There's lots of possible uses for these handy little items.

The XPD3-IW Wall Switch Module responds to ON/OFF, DIM/BRIGHT, ALL LIGHTS ON, and ALL OFF commands from any X10 wireless remote or controller. Can be turned on/off and dimmed/brightened right at the switch. Quickly tap the bottom of the rocker panel to turn it on/off -- keep holding it to dim/brighten the lights. Attractive decorator style fits into the interior decor of many of today's newer homes. Looks great in older homes too.

The XPD3-IW Wall Switch Module has the new Soft Start feature which means that the lights fade up gradually in about 2 seconds rather than full bright in your face like the older ones used to do. This makes it easier on the eyes and the bulbs. When turned off, they gradually fade down to off in about 2 seconds. They also have resume dimming. This means that whatever dim level you had them set at when you turned them off, they will remember this and automatically turn back on up to that last brightness level. You simply press and hold in the bottom of the rocker to dim the lights. Release it, then when you push and hold it in again, the light starts to dim back up. You don't need to dim all the way down to start dimming back up.

The XPD3-IW Wall Switch Module can be used with the decorator style remote control companion switch (WS14A or RWS19) or the X10 PRO version companion switch (XPSS-IW) for 3, 4, or 5-way or more applications. The rocker on the companion switch functions exactly the same as the rocker on the master switch. The Soft Start feature also works at the companion switch. Works with an X10 transceiver module or security system base receiver for wireless remote control. The XPD3-IW Wall Switch Module makes a great dimmer switch just by itself. Rated at 120 Volts AC. UL Listed. Up to 500 Watts maximum (incandescent only).

Three Wire Connectivity:

Black: AC Hot
Blue: Load (to the light)
Red: used for 3, 4, 5-way or more applications. Must be capped or taped off if it's not being used.
