This is the X10 PRO brand mini-controller model number PHC01-B. This is the PRO version of the older discontinued model number MC460. There have been times when X10 has tried to make improvements to something that frankly didn't need any improvement as it was perfect just the way it was. The MC10A was one of those times. With its clumsy keypad layout and awkward feel, well lets face it--the MC10A just plain sucks! The older style PHC01/MC460 mini-controller was the best with a quality look, feel, and larger buttons in a simple layout that was perfect for night stands. The last thing you need is to be fumbling around in the dark trying to find those tiny buttons like you have on the new "improved" flimsy MC10A.
The PHC01-B is perfect for bedstands, telephone tables or any place where space is limited. This compact unit lets you command up to 8 different X10 compatible receiver modules, including lamp and appliance modules, wall switches and outlets, and universal modules in any housecode that you select A thru P. A transceiver module is not needed to control X10 modules since the mini-controller generates its own X10 signals and directly feeds them onto your house wiring. If you want wireless remote control, you will need a transceiver module and an appropriate controller.
It has four ON/OFF buttons that give you control of up to four devices (Unit Codes 1-4). Just flip a switch and the same buttons can control an additional four devices (Unit Codes 5-8). Also has DIM/BRIGHT capabilities for incandescent lights and an ALL LIGHTS ON and ALL UNITS OFF button. There's even a built-in LED that lights up to indicate when you're sending an X10 signal, so you'll know at a glance if your commands are being carried out. Simply plug the mini-controller into any 120VAC wall receptacle, set the house and unit codes and you're in business. You can also use it to send signals to intelligent 2-way controllers to activate preprogrammed events (macros). 120 volts AC 2 Watts. UL listed. Color is white.
