This is the X-10 PRO brand Touch Tone Controller model PHC06. This neat X10 add-on lets you control up to ten X10 devices from any touch tone telephone anywhere in the world. When you call in to your home phone the responder picks up after 15 or 35 seconds (can be set to a minimum of 15 seconds or to a maximum of 35 seconds). You will then hear 3 beeps. At this point you can press a number 0 - 9 that correspond to each of the 10 devices available followed by * for on and # for off. A three digit security code can be set before access is allowed if desired. The responder can also be set to flash X10 controlled lights or activate chime modules when the phone rings. Great when you are outside or for the hearing impaired. The keypad hidden under the flip up lid also works as a manual controller for eight X10 devices with ON/OFF and ALL LIGHTS ON/ALL OFF control.
Compatible with all manufacturer's X10 products including those from but not limited to GE, IBM, HomeLink, Leviton, Magnavox, RCA, Radio Shack, Safety First, Smarthome, Stanley, X10, and X-10 PRO.
If you are using this item on a DSL line, you may need a DSL filter for it to function properly. We had a customer who had an older model number TR16A which worked perfectly with no filter needed on his DSL line while the PHC06 would not. After exchanging it for a second and him buying a third from a local store, he ended up having to connect it to his phone line thru 2 DSL filters for it to work properly. So if your PHC06 does not answer or fails to respond to touch tone signals, try using a DSL filter (or two) to see if this helps correct the problem. Apparently the "new and improved" model number PHC06 doesn't have sufficient if any phone line filtering when compared to the older model number TR16A. I guess X10 decided to make them this way to save a few cents each on production costs.
