This is the X10 PRO Ivory 3-way wall switch module set number PLW02-I. You can replace any existing 3-way wall switch by removing the old switches and replacing them with these for remote control of 3 and 4-way light switch applications. A 3-way switch setup is where 2 switches control the same light. A 4-way setup would be where 3 switches control the same light. Each light requires a master switch and then one slave switch for each of the additional control points of the same light. Now you can turn the lights on or off and dim or brighten them using any X10 remote or controller. Use with a motion sensor to turn the lights on and off when you enter or leave a room. Or use one with the Palmpad to shut off the lights when going to bed or use a keychain remote to turn on the porch lights for safety when coming home. Can be used for the lights on the porch, hallway, garage, floods, anywhere you would use a regular wall switch.
The PLW02-I 3-way ivory wall switch module has the new Soft Start feature which means that the lights fade up gradually in about 2 seconds rather than full bright in your face like the older ones used to do. This makes it easier on the eyes and the bulbs. When turned off, they gradually fade down to off in about 2 seconds. They also have resume dimming. This means that whatever dim level you had them set at when you turned them off, they will remember this and automatically turn back on up to that last brightness level. Works just like a normal switch, except these are pushbutton switches, not a toggle like a standard switch. You simply press and hold the push button in to dim the lights. Release it, then when you push and hold it again, the light starts to dim back up. You don't need to dim all the way down to start dimming back up.
The PLW02-I 3-way ivory wall switch module can be used with additional remote control companion switches (CS277) or the X10 PRO version companion switch (PCW03) for 4, 5, or 6-way or more applications. The push button on the companion switch functions exactly the same as the push button on the master switch. The Soft Start feature and dimming also works at the companion switch. Works with an X10 transceiver module or security system base receiver for wireless remote control.
