This is the X10 PRO brand phase coupler signal bridge model XPCP. You would use this if some X10 modules don't work as reliably as they should or just not at all in certain outlets/locations in your home. By installing this across your 240 volt AC line or any 220 to 240 volt breaker in your circuit breaker box, this will couple the X10 signals from one phase to the other allowing the X10 signals to carry easily. The XPCP does not amplify the signal but just merely gives it a path to cross from one leg of your circuit breaker panel to the other. If you wanted to couple AND amplify the signal, then you'd want to get the XPCR Coupler Repeater.
Compatible with all manufacturer's X10 home automation products including those from but not limited to GE, IBM, HomeLink, Leviton, Magnavox, RCA, Radio Shack, Safety First, Smarthome, Stanley, X10, and X-10 PRO.
