This is the X10 PRO 20 Amp hardwired noise filter model number XPF. If some of your X10 modules don't work as they should when certain devices such as TV's, VCR, computers, or appliances are ON, it may be due to "noise" generated by them that's put onto the AC power line causing X10 signal interference. The XPF stops the noise from going out onto your homes AC wiring. It also blocks X10 signals from being absorbed by appliances and other electrical devices that may be causing reduced X10 signal strength. Hardwired installation right at the device or the breaker panel for the entire circuit.
Sometimes the offending device doesn't even have to be on, because most often TV's, computers, satellite receivers, DVD players, etc. still have their power supplies connected to the power line even though they are turned off. Symptoms of line noise can be modules that can be turned ON but not OFF or OFF but not ON. Sometimes dim commands can dim too far or just so far and then stop. These can also be signs of a phase coupling problem which is indicative of weak X10 signal strength.
